Hill cannot accept contributions while still in session, so, while he has been able to spend money over the last period, he hasn’t been able to take any in. Session ends the first week in May (if all goes well) and fundraising will, I’m sure, start in earnest at that point. Here’s what’s been going on so far:

Now for Smith. My concern with Smith, although he took in very little in contributions, is that he has done his campaigning and fundraising all while working for the City of Johnson City. I assume that the reasoning behind legislators not being allowed to accept contributions as long as the House is still in session, is because it is more than a little off-putting that one would be fundraising and campaigning while accepting a paycheck from the taxpayers. This, however, is exactly what Smith is doing – fundraising and campaigning while being paid with tax dollars. Although, while he may have been campaigning, he’s done very little in the way of fundraising:
