I don’t think there’s any question we need to get the heck out of Iraq. Even if you support the war, you have to admit that the ultimate goal is to leave, right?

However, is the solution to set a timetable for withdrawal? I’m not so sure. It does seem a bit idiotic to tell the enemy when we’re leaving. On the other hand, it’s becoming increasingly clear that President Bush’s “we’ll leave when Iraq is able to do ‘x’ for itself” is never actually going to get us out. Maybe the solution is to tack a timetable onto funding bills and force Bush to either veto the funding or go ahead and agree to leave.
